Welcome to my semester project for CIS 515 - Full Stack Web Design at Des Moines Area
Community College.
As an accounting specialist and active bookkeeper,
I spend my days navigating complex ledgers, processing payroll, and reconciling financial accounts.
While there are many complicated financial monitoring and planning tools in existence, I decided to
create something simple to use.
The Monthly Bill Tracker is an interactive dashboard where users can seamlessly
log upcoming obligations, monitor recurring expenses, and review historical payment data without
relying on static, easily fragmented Excel spreadsheets. Building this application from the ground
up allows me to apply the core full-stack development principles covered in this course, integrating
a responsive, user-friendly frontend interface with a robust, secure backend architecture.
Under the hood, the system is engineered to handle relational data efficiently, drawing on my
experience with SQL database management to ensure that user inputs, vendor details, and payment
statuses are stored securely and retrieved instantly. Ultimately, this project is much more than a
routine academic exercise; it is a tangible intersection of my passion for accurate financial
reporting and my dedication to modern web development. By translating real-world bookkeeping
workflows into a fully functional web environment, the Monthly Bill Tracker demonstrates how
thoughtful, data-driven web design can empower individuals to take immediate, confident control
of their financial health.
